CHALLENGE LADDER RULES & GUIDELINES

Program Target: The ladder is an active 10 month Bonus program for BBTA players only.

Format: Players play a minimum of ONE match every 2 months. A challenge match will consist of 2 no add sets with a 7-point tiebreaker system used when a set is tied at 6-6. A 10-point super tie-breaker will be used to determine the winner of the match if both players are tied at 1 set all.  If time runs out on a court reservation, players should reschedule their match and start where they left off.  If the match is not re-scheduled, then the player who is ahead in the match will be determined the winner.

Challenge guidelines:
Players can challenge up only ONE position.  When the player challenging from the lower position loses the match, he or she will remain where they were.  When the player challenging from the lower position wins the match, he or she will take the higher players spot and the higher player will move back one position.  If the player in the higher position wins the match, he or she will remain where they are.

Refusal of Challenge: If any player refuses to accept a challenge from another player (unless a player has already accepted a challenge or has already placed a challenge), that player will automatically forfeit their match and lose the position to the other player.

Challenging Priority: Any player that records a win from their previous match has first priority to challenge up the following match unless, of course, they hold the #1 position on the ladder.

Location Priority:
The player that placed the challenge has 1st priority to schedule that match.  If the player challenging up does not schedule the match with 2 weeks of the challenge, then the other player gets to schedule the match.  A day and time must be mutually agreed upon for the match to be valid.  Match location and time must be relayed to Academy Director Bret Bowers immediately after the match is scheduled.

Reporting Scores: Match winners MUST report scores to the Academy Director, Bret Bowers within 48 hours after the match is played or the match is not considered valid.

Sportsmanship:
Any player demonstrating unacceptable behavior during a match such as cussing, bad lines calls, yelling or any unsportsmanlike conduct will be given a firm warning for the first match offence.
For a second match offence a player will receive an automatic match forfeit, a one-month suspension from all ladder matches and will drop to the bottom of the ladder. For a third match offence the player will be expelled from the BBTA challenge ladder program and be reviewed by Bret Bowers and the players parent(s) for further disciplinary action.

NOTE: Both opponent players must provide a new can of tennis balls and match play winner collects the unopened new can.
